Officer Commits Suicide

On February 18 th , 2020 the Owen Sound Police commenced an investigation surrounding the circumstances of the death of a member of the West Grey Police Service which occurred in the early morning hours of February 18 th , 2020. On February 19 th , 2020, investigators with the Owen Sound Police attended a post mortem examination with the coroner during which a determination was made that Constable Cory Trainor succumbed to a self-inflicted injury.

There will be no further releases made with respect to this investigation.

The Owen Sound Police Service wishes to again express our most sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Constable Trainor. Mental wellness within our communities and our members remains a priority for Ontario police services.
