AI Detects Suspended Driver Shyanne WITTER Arrested

On March 16, 2024, shortly after 9:00 p.m., members from the North East Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E) Team of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), where on general patrol, when their Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted of a suspended driver on Highway 69, Dill Township, south of Sudbury.
Police conducted a traffic stop, where the driver provided a false name. The driver was arrested, and a search of the vehicle located drugs suspected to be cocaine.
As a result of the investigation, Shyanne WITTER, 32 years-of-age from Welland, was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking
Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice (Identity fraud)
Driving while under suspension
Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
The vehicle was towed at the expense of the owner.
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1, 2024, in Sudbury.
