Only One Headlight Leads To $30,000 Drug Bust

On April 16, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m., OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle headed eastbound on Highway 417 at mile marker 35 due to a burnt out headlight.
As a result of the investigation, the driver 34-year-old Etienne Joseph Montpetit from Ottawa was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and the Criminal Code (CC):
CDSA Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
CDSA Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine
CDSA Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Other Drugs
CC Adult possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 in Canada
The passenger, 39-year-old Ryan Gordon from Ottawa, was also charged with the following offences under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and the Criminal Code (CC):
CDSA Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
CDSA Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine
CDSA Adult possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking Other Drugs
CC Adult possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 in Canada
Both males were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on May 8, 2024 at the LOrignal Court of Justice.
