Repeat Offender Arrested In Firearm Incident

On April 29, 2024, shortly after 10:00 a.m., members from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a firearm being discharged from a motor vehicle towards a residence on Montreal Street, in the Town of Sables-Spanish Rivers.
No injuries were reported.
Police located the motor vehicle and arrested two occupants. A search of the vehicle located an air pistol handgun, cell phones, drug paraphernalia and drugs suspected to be Cocaine and opioids.
As a result of the investigation, the driver, Lawrence TOULOUSE, 37 years-of-age from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, was charged with:
Fail to comply with Probation Order
Possession of a schedule I substance two counts
Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking two counts
Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Assault with a weapon
Imitation firearm use while committing offence
Discharge firearm with Intent
Reckless discharge of firearm life or safety
Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Pointing a firearm
The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 9, 2024, in Sudbury
The passenger, Sandra SORBLEY, 48 years-of-age from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory, was charged with:
Possession of a schedule I substance
Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Assault with a weapon
Imitation firearm use while committing offence
Discharge firearm with intent
Reckless discharge of firearm life or safety
Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
Pointing a Firearm
The accused was held for Bail Court and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on May 1, 2024, in Sudbury.
