Cassandra Pinnell Was Arrested

On July 4, 2024, shortly after 9:00 a.m., members from the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance from Batchewana First Nation Police Service responded to a car in a ditch on Highway 17B between Anishinawbe Point Road (Garden River First Nation) and Church Steet within McDonald-Meredith-Aberdeen Additional Township.
Investigation determined the car was eastbound on Highway 17B, veered off the roadway onto the right shoulder, over corrected and crossed both lanes entered the bush on the north side of the highway and collided with an embankment.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving. Arrangements were made for a Drug Recognition Expert from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service to meet at OPP detachment to assist with further testing.
As a result, Cassandra Pinnell, 29 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:
Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
Fail to surrender permit for vehicle
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on August 12, 2024.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
