Stolen Vehicle Recovered Two Arrested

On July 27, 2024, at approximately 4:29 p.m., a member of the Oneida Nation Police, while travelling through Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, observed a suspicious vehicle on Antler River Road.
As the officer approached the vehicle on the narrow road, the suspect vehicle collided with the cruiser. The suspect vehicle subsequently struck a tree as it attempted to flee in the opposite direction.
Two occupants were placed under arrest.
Investigation revealed the vehicle had previously been reported as stolen out of Elgin County.
As a result, the driver, Justin KICKS, a 35-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:
Flight from peace officer
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 in Canada
Dangerous operation
Assault A Peace Officer with a weapon
Resist Peace Officer
Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
Poss of a Schedule I Substance Methamphetamine
Poss of a Schedule I Substance Opioid (other than heroin) (two counts)
The accused was wanted by a municipal police service and was held for bail.
The passenger, Candas PARDAENS, a 38-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 in Canada
Poss of a Schedule I Substance Methamphetamine
Poss of a Schedule I Substance Opioid (other than heroin) (two counts)
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 20, 2024, to speak to the charges.
There were no injuries.
