William CAWLEY – Drunk Driving

(LYBSTER TOWNSHIP, ON) – A R.I.D.E program has resulted in impaired charges being laid by the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 4, 2024, just before 2:00 p.m., the Thunder Bay OPP were conducting a R.I.D.E program in the area of Highway 588 in Lybster Township. A motor vehicle entered the program, and an approved screening device was administered.



Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Thunder Bay Detachment for further testing.

As a result, William CAWLEY, 29-years-old, of Thunder Bay, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:



· Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

· Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on October 16, 2024.
