On September 16, 2024, at approximately 3:10 p.m., police received a complaint from a member of the public regarding the driver of a pick-up truck unable to maintain their lane travelling westbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton. Another complaint was recorded regarding erratic driving of the same vehicle.
Police located the vehicle matching the description provided and a traffic stop was conducted. Officers spoke to the driver and entered into an impaired operation investigation. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further tests. Cannabis and open liquor was located in the vehicle. Through investigation, the accused was also driving under license of another jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario.
Sevag BOYAJIAN, a 38-years-old, from British Columbia, has been charged with:
Operation while impaired alcohol and drugs
Operation while impaired blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Driving under licence of other jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario
Have care or control of vehicle while cannabis readily available
Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor.
In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.
