32 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) – On January 10, 2025, just before 11:00 pm, members of the Collingwood Ontario Provincial Police responded to a cell phone crash notification. The single vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of First Street and Pine street in the Town of Collingwood. Officers arrived on scene and discovered that the vehicle had destroyed the centre traffic light. As a result of the investigation, the Novice driver was arrested for impaired driving. Blood alcohol content was approximately two and a half times the legal limit.

33-yr-old Rodrigo LAVIA MARINHO of Toronto has been charged with:


Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs (Criminal Code)
Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration – 80 plus (Criminal Code)
Novice drive – blood alcohol concentration above zero (Highway Traffic Act)
The male driver faces a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment. The accused is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Collingwood on February 11th, 2025.
