Officer Assaulted Benjamin CLARK Charged, Drugs A Factor

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 in Coleman Township.
The OPP located the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing. Additionally, police seized a suspected amount of cocaine and heroin.
The driver was charged with several offences contrary to the Criminal Code (CC), the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
Benjamin CLARK, 39 years-of-age of New Liskeard was charged with:
Assault Peace Officer
Operation while impaired drugs
Possession of substance heroin
Possession of substance cocaine
Failure or refusal to comply with demand
Possession of property obtained by crime
Operation while prohibited under criminal code
Drive without proper headlights
Drive without proper rear light
Follow too closely
The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS). They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025.
