On September 13, 2024, members of the Wellington County Crime Unit launched an investigation after receiving information of a sexual assault in the Town of Fergus.
On March 6, 2025, the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged Charles NDEGWE, a 50-year-old of Fergus, with sexual assault.
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice Guelph on April 11, 2025.
